We are in day 54 of the BP oil spill that is causing havoc in the Gulf of Mexico and there does not seem to be any end in site. While the federal government is still sitting around analyzing strategies, some 30,000 plus barrels of oil are still flowing into the gulf. Why am I not shocked by this?
As we all know the coasts surrounding the Gulf of Mexico contain some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and are currently being threatened due to this catastrophe.
My message to the local governments of these threatened and damaged areas: Quit waiting for BP and the federal government to come up with an action plan, you yourselves ban together and take immediate action! Bring in the resources that BP and federal government have failed to take advantage of, start cleaning up the beaches, start implementing prevention for those areas not yet affected, work together to get this gusher capped. Once the affected states have this job completed, send BP and the federal government the bill.
The federal government as of late has been unable to competently handle any major catastrophe and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The time for waiting is over.

Agreed. BP isnt taking care of this problem quick enough. It is time for someone to step in and either take over the cleaning of this mess, or light a fire under BP to get this taken care of NOW. There is no more time for failed attempts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment - I totally agree with you anonymous, something totally has to be done now. This whole thing is a disaster and is really going to do a lot of damage for possibly generations.
